Doctoral Program Admission Guidelines
Please first familiarize yourself with all the regulations in the doctoral degree regulations of the Faculty for Process and Systems Engineering.
Application Letter for Admission
should be submitted by the prospective doctoral candidate
- The admission requirements are governed by the doctoral degree regulations
- If you have any questions about the procedures, please reach out to the Dean's office for guidance
- Moreover, holders of academic degrees from foreign institutions are required to undergo an equivalence assessment check by K31
Timeline
- It's recommended to submit your application early in the application process to ensure all eligibility criteria are met
- The application must be submitted by the day of the nearest scheduled Faculty Council meeting. This must be done prior to initiating the doctoral qualifying procedure
Required Documents to be Submitted
If you are already enrolled at the university: submit the required documents to the Student Affairs Office (K31)
- Having graduated in Germany, you will need to submit the following documents:
- Enrollment application for doctorate students (applicants from Germany)
- Required documents for enrollment can be found in the checklist on the main page
- Having graduated outside Germany:
- Enrollment application (international applicants)
- Required documents for enrollment can be found in the checklist on the main page
- Enrollment application for admission as a doctoral candidate for international applicants
- Copies and/or scans of all higher education qualifications (including the degree certificates and academic transcripts, and where relevant, the grading scale systems used by the institution) accompanied by translation in either German or English are to be submitted along with the other aforementioned documents
If you are not already enrolled at the university: submit the required documents to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering
- Having graduated in Germany, you will need to submit the following documents:
- Registration form for doctoral candidates (in German or in English)
- Copies and/or scans of all higher education qualifications (including the degree certificates and academic transcripts, and where relevant, the grading scale systems used by the institution); in certain specific situations the notarized copies are necessary for submission; qualifications obtained at the OvGU will be verified internally
- Having graduated outside Germany:
- Registration form for doctoral candidates (in German or in English)
- Enrollment application for admission as an international doctoral candidate
- Copies and/or scans of all higher education qualifications (including the degree certificates and academic transcripts, and where relevant, the grading scale systems used by the institution) accompanied by translation in either German or English are to be submitted along with the other aforementioned documents
Formal Application Pre-Assessment
will be carried out by the Dean's Office and/or the doctoral affairs coordinator at OvGU
- Having graduated outside Germany: equivalence assessment check of acquired degree by the Student Affairs Office (K31)
- Having graduated in Germany or having verified international degree certification: verification that the acquired degree and final grades comply with the doctoral degree regulations
Determination of Admission Eligibility
will be carried out by the Faculty Council
- The decision will be made at the nearest scheduled Faculty Council meeting
- The prospective doctoral candidate will be informed about the Faculty Council's decision
