Why did you choose the degree program in Process Engineering/what was the motivation?
I made the decision to study process engineering after taking part in a sample study course (led by Prof. Sundmacher). Versatility of the studies, my interest at the beginning was in the area of chemical process engineering, although I did not want to definitively commit myself. Intensive student supervision in small seminar groups by a highly motivated teaching staff in modern laboratories. Promising career opportunities and the prospect of a good salary after graduation.
Why process engineering/What is exciting about process engineering?
Process engineering is the universal engineering science with which you can take on interesting and sophisticated problems in almost all industries.
What is exciting about science?
Researching new methods and processes makes it possible to implement your own ideas and thus achieve your personal fulfillment. Use of state-of-the-art measuring technology, as well as powerful computing technology and software. Contact and exchange with other scientists at the national and international level. Science also involves working with students, which for me means not only the transfer of knowledge, but also enthusiasm for a scientific topic.
What is exciting about industry?
Development and optimization of complex products for consumers requires an understanding of functionality and design and the competence to balance these aspects. To be able to experience the results of your own work as a finished product. Continuous development in the work environment and personal career opportunities.
Can everyone do this?
Yes, as long as one makes a conscious decision to pursue process engineering.
